Kicks off Its Star Show on August 7th

——Pelé Sports City Debuts in New York


NEW YORK August 7th, 2015 – The CorpStarter North America Venture Contest presented the Third Annual CorpStarter Star Show at KPMG in Midtown New York, Friday, August 7th. The legendary soccer player Pelé greeted the audience and all the participants through a quite personal video. Pelé Sports City, a project will be developed by the world's most famous soccer player, Pelé and David Elwing, had its debut in New York at the CorpStarter Star Show.

Through fierce competing and judges’ critical appraising, Ortlas, a fracture reduction robot system took the first place of the CorpStarter North America Venture Contest 2015. The runner-up was the revolutionary fantasy sports game platform Gone Streakin’, while Tryst with its uniquely packaged and designed and multi-flavored electronic smoking devices secured itself the third place. They altogether proved this year was the most diverse and competitive start-up contest that CorpStarter has held so far.

Judges on the panel, included Carl Dan Killian, Jr. president of Harvard Investors Group, Alessandro Piol partner and co-founder of AlphaPrime Ventures, Adam He deputy CFO of AMC Entertainment Inc., Soraya Darabi co-founder of Zady.com, and Justin McCarthy chairman of the Global Board at PRMIA, who flew all the way from Ireland solely for this event and gave an insightful keynote speech.

The CorpStarter North America Venture Contest is one of the most competitive startup contests in the East Coast. It links projects and talents with capital, office spaces, startup-related services, and opportunities to explore the ever-growing Chinese market. During the past three years, CorpStarter has selected and supported ten valuable startups, helped them get funded from both US and China, offered prime location office space in Manhattan, and connected them with mentors, leading investors, law firms and accounting firms.

Here are some highlights from the contests over the past two years:

- Startup stars:

2013 Champion: GeriJoy, providing senior companion service with a tablet-based virtual pet.

2014 Champion: Ultroid, providing non-surgical solution to all four grades of internal and mixed hemorrhoids, with no recovery time.

Our competition and startups have been covered by top media groups in the U.S. and China, including Bloomberg, TEDMED, Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, and US-China Press.

- Investor and mentor resources:

Leading Chinese and U.S. investors including Mr. Xiaoping Xu from ZhenFund, Mr. Zhenhua Mao from CCXI, Brian Cohen from New York Angels, and institutions such as Google, China Unicom, and New York State Small Business Development Center.
